Hampton Park Christian Church... Disciples In God's Way

The Faith

In essentials, unity:

In non-essentials, freedom:

In all things, love

A basic belief of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, is that unity of all Christians in the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ is possible. In the early 1800's, the founders of the faith preached no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible. Coming from Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist and other backgrounds, they sought the eliminate divisive creeds and practices. The community of Christian unity that they build is now the largest American-born denomination in the U.S. with more than one million members. That movement for Christian unity continues today. At Hampton Park Christian Church we believe personal faith is the essence of Christianity. And because each individual's faith is a personal relationship with Christ, we cannot and do not rigidly demand that one affirm certain dogmatic ideas and deny others. Maybe that's why the Christian Church is one of our country's fastest-growing mainline Protestant denominations. We readily welcome people from all denominations, affiliations, and convictions into our church family.

The People
People of varying backgrounds and differing beliefs come together at Hampton Park Christian Church to form a congregation rich in diversity, vibrant in spirit, abundant in Christian love. The church family at Hampton Park includes accountants, teachers, singers, doctors, lawyers, laborers, sportsman, musicians, engineers, salesmen, managers, nurses, activists, artists, students, writers, technicians, politicians, carpenters, programmers, secretaries -- all related as Christians.

We are a church, a congregation, a fellowship, and a family -- committed to the ministry of all believers that calls men, women, and youth to serve in all phases of our Church life.

The Community
A wealth of Christian education opportunities, weekly junior high and high school youth programs, summer camp experiences, Christian Women's Fellowship, vocal and instrumental music programs and social gatherings abound at Hampton Park Christian Church. We worship, study and pray together each Sunday, as most congregations do. But our fellowship continues through the week with volleyball games, choir practice, class parties, youth outings, women's fellowship programs, mission and outreach efforts. Throughout the year, we come together for an all-church picnic, a craft bazaar, a Christmas talent show and turkey dinner, a Valentine's Day Dinner Dance and weekly Lenten Suppers. Our Christian celebrations of Holy Week, Easter, and Christmas will lift your spirit and fill your heart with the grace, peace and joy of the holy seasons.

The Spirit

Christ within us,

Christ around us,

Christ among us.

As we strive to follow in His way, members of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, make the life and example of Christ the focus of our faith, our worship, and our life. For Disciples, the commitment to Christ as personal Lord and Savior brings hope and peace and joy. We invite you to share that grace and join us at Hampton Park Christian Church as we follow in His way.

We invite you to come and join us in worship, fellowship, and service.
